Ai Miyazato Wins HSBC Women’s Champions

Ai Miyazato won the HSBC Champions today with 3-under 69 for a two-stroke victory over Cristie Kerr. Miyazato is the first player in 44 years to win two consecutive LPGA Tournaments events. Miyazato’s winning scores were 69-71-69-69 for a total of 278 and left her at 10 under.

The 24-year-old Japanese golfer also took the title at the LPGA Thailand last week. Marilin Smith was the last player to win the first two events in a season back in 1966. This is a good omen, for Miyazato, of things to come!

Kerr birdied No. 16 which gave her the lead at 10 under but bogeyed the final two holes for a final score of 68. Last year’s Winner, Jiyai Shin closed with a 67 to tie for third at 7 under with Suzann Petersen (69), Song Hee Kim (67), and Yani Tseng.
