Jim Furyk Wins the Verizon Heritage

It takes a lot of character to call a penalty, especially a two stoke penalty, on oneself? Brian Davis called himself out today at the Verizon Heritage at Hilton Head Island, SC which gave the victory to Jim Furyk. Furyk lead round four of the Verizon Heritage the majority of the day, by a one shot lead, until Brian Davis birdied on 72 to tie for the lead.

Both golfers went back to the T box at the 18th hole and shot again for the playoff round. Furyk landed his ball safely on the green but Davis was not as lucky. His ball rolled off the green and onto the sandy marsh area of the beach. In his back swing, Davis, moved some loose reeds which resulted in a two-stroke penalty. Furyk made his put for par which gave him his 15th win on the PGA tour. Furyk also picked up 500 FedEx Cup Points which brought him to second in the season long race.
