ESPN Seeking Hundreds of Fans to Attend the Popular National Broadcast
March 10, 2011, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am officials announced that fans who have purchased tickets for the golf tournament can also attend the national broadcast of ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike in the Morning.” Both events will take place at the Dye Club at Barefoot Resort & Golf on Monday, April 11, 2011. The Mike & Mike show airs weekdays from 6:00 – 10:00 a.m. on ESPN Radio and is simulcast on ESPN2.

ESPN has requested that at least 250 people be present for the start of the “Mike & Mike in the Morning” show at 6:00 a.m., but more are encouraged to attend. People who have purchased tickets to Monday After The Masters and wish to be part of the Mike & Mike show audience are asked to arrive and park their vehicles at the Alabama Theatre located at Barefoot Landing no later than 5:15 a.m. on April 11. Buses will transport ticket holders to The Dye Club starting at 5:30 a.m. in order to arrive in time for the beginning of the national broadcast. Buses will continue to transport ticket holders to and from Alabama Theatre throughout the day for the celebrity golf tournament. General parking is not allowed at The Dye Club.

“Mike and Mike’s remote broadcasts are always a lot of fun with very lively, animated crowds,” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “We want to show the nation that Myrtle Beach is truly the ‘Golf Capital of the World.’ We encourage everyone who has purchased tickets to Monday After The Masters to come out for the start of the broadcast, make some noise, make some signs and really get behind supporting Greeny and Golic.”

The live Mike & Mike broadcast will be the culmination of a first quarter promotion that has been featuring Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday on ESPN Radio and ESPNRadio.com. Mike & Mike is one of the most popular sports talk shows in the nation with more than 11 million weekly listeners on ESPN Radio and viewers on ESPN2.

Mike & Mike in the Morning is a national radio program focused on the world of sports. It is produced by ESPN Radio and is syndicated by ABC Radio Networks on over 130 stations nationwide. In January 2006, it began simulcasting on ESPN2. The show features sports news, analysis and interviews. Guests include big-name athletes, coaches and commentators. Last year, the popular duo published a book entitled, “Mike & Mike’s Rules for Sports and Life” which debuted at No. 3 on the New York Times Best Seller List.

Tickets for 2011 Hootie & The Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament can be purchased at the House of Blues, the Barefoot Resort & Golf pro shops and all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets are $15 with children 12 years-of-age and younger admitted free. While children are admitted free, they must have a ticket to enter the event. The event has been sold out for the last five years as tournament officials can only sell a limited amount of tickets. Purchasing tickets in advance is advised.

All ticket proceeds benefit the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of children in South Carolina and the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation.

Returning for this year’s tournament, is the 2010 FedEx Cup champion and 2010 PGA Tour Player of the Year, Jim Furyk. Furyk, along with teammate and country singing superstar Darius Rucker, ended last year’s tournament in a five-way tie for second place and are looking forward to the chance to claim the top spot.

Monday After the Masters has hosted celebrity actors, sports figures, musicians and more. Guests have included PGA and LPGA players D.J. Trahan, John Daly, Woody Austin, Kristen McPherson, and Annika Sorenstam; actors Samuel L.
